Secondo il New York Times, queste sono le 25 opere che definiscono l’arte contemporanea
Il T Magazine ha chiesto a due ottimi curatori (David Breslin del Whitney Museum e Kelly Taxter del Jewish Museum) e tre tra i più interessanti artisti contemporanei – Rirkrit Tiravanija, Martha Rosler e Torey Thornton – di selezionare 25 opere d’arte create dopo il 1970 che, secondo loro, definiscono l’era contemporanea. La consegna, specifica il T Magazine, era volutamente piuttosto aperta: cosa renderebbe, infatti, un’opera più “contemporanea” di un’altra? Non è così facile definirlo. Trovare un accordo è infatti stato difficilissimo. La lista comprende le opere citate da più di un componente del gruppo. «Se l’incontro fosse avvenuto in un giorno diverso, con un gruppo diverso, i risultati sarebbero stati diversi», avvisa Thessaly La Force, autrice dell’articolo. Più che una dichiarazione, quindi, la lista esprime una particolare sensibilità: considerando la carriera curatoriale e artistica delle persone che l’hanno creata, c’è da fidarsi.
